Conversion and lengthening of a stern trawler
The conversion of Atlantic Navigator began in 2007, when the trawler was lengthened by 25 meters, but the Norwegian owner decided to put the project on hold due to unfavorable market conditions.
The trawler was lengthened by 25.2 meters (from 96.2m to 121.4m) by the insertion of a parallelmid body section with 650t and 250t reinforcements. An Azimuth bow thruster 2MW (2600HP) was installed.
In 2010 Navigator Marine AS ex. Aker BioMarine (part of AKER group) decided to re-launch this extensive project and complete lengthening and conversion of Atlantic Navigator.
Scope of work: Completion of lengthening, classification certification, completion of installation and commissioning of the bow thruster, superstructure deck level 03 outfitting, steel renewal on all decks, insulation, 500t fixed ballast installation, installation of a steam boiler, diesel generator, CO2 system, emergency generator, incenerator.
